My name is Psalm One, and I am a regular black girl. I traveled across the United States, stopping in nine cities to make music with over 225 students from America SCORES, an after-school program that serves students in under-resourced neighborhoods. In each city, I spent two days writing a song with 16-32 students and on the third day we recorded it in a professional studio.

I taught them about self-expression and they shared their world with me. This was all made possible by the ASCAP Songwriter Residency @ America SCORES. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences that I've ever been a part of.
